2022 Qld State LC Championships – Coach Report

Day 5 Coach Report – David Thomas

Terrific day 5 saw the continuation of terrific swims and finalists for the day were

Girls 14yrs – Sara McCarthy securing Bronze in the 50m Butterfly.

Boys 13yrs – Julian Angus claiming Silver closely followed by Ishaan Mehra taking the Bronze in the 50m Butterfly.

Boys 15yrs – Oscar Eddy taking out the Silver in the 200m Breaststroke.

Boys 13yrs – Ishaan Mehra finishing the night with Silver in the 100m Backstroke.

Day 4 Coach Report – David Thomas

A very exciting day at the pool as plenty of swimmers tackled the 400m Freestyle. Plenty of great swims and 8 finals.

Boys 15yrs – Tomo Shadforth claimed 8th in the 50m Backstroke.

Boys 13yrs – Ishaan Mehra secured Bronze in the 50m Backstroke.

Boys 15yrs – Tomo Shadforth was 7th in the 400m Freestyle, with Matthew Kalogeropoulos securing 10th.

Girls 14yrs – Bianca Rayward claimed Bronze in the 400m Freestyle.

Boys 14yrs – Kai Gilbert took out the Gold in the 400m Freestyle and claimed the prestigious Swim of the session award for Day 3 for his 50m Freestyle Gold.

Boys 13yrs – Julian Angus claimed Silver in the 400m Freestyle.

Boys 14yrs – Christopher Kalogeropoulos finished with 6th in 100 Breaststroke.

Day 3 Coach Report – David Thomas

Another scorching hot day in and out of the pool – with multiple finals and podium visits.

Girls 14yrs – Sara McCarthy 7th in the 50m Freestyle.

Boys 13yrs – Ishaa Mehra secured Silver in the 50m Freestyle.

Boys 14yrs – Kai Gilbert captured Gold in the 50m Freestyle.

Girls 14yrs – Bianca Rayward took out the Silver in the 100m Freestyle.

Boys 14yrs – Kai Gilbert took his 2nd Gold of the night in the 100m Freestyle.

Boys 15yrs – Oscar Eddy was 6th in the 100m Breaststroke.

Boys 13yrs – Ishaan Mehra claimed 6th in the 200m Backstroke.

Day 2 Coach Report – David Thomas

A very hot day in Brisbane and a series of great races at Chandler.

Another 8 finalists from TSS on Day 2.

Boys 13 yrs – Ishaan Mehra took on the double challenge of 200m Medley (9th) and 100m Butterfly (Bronze). He was joined on the podium in the 100m Butterfly by Julian Angus (Silver) in one of the closest events of the night.

Boys 15yrs – Matthew Kalogeropoulos fought hard to 10th place in the 200m Butterfly.

Girls 16yrs – Jasmine Rayward secured another great best time and a 5th place finish in the 400m Freestyle.

Girls 14yrs – a strong showing in the distance events saw Bianca Rayward take Silver in the 800m Freestyle, followed closely by Ella Burden with a huge best time to take 10th place.

Boys 14yrs – Kai Gilbert won Gold in the 1500m Freestyle with a classy performance leading from the start.

Day 1 Coach Report – David Thomas

A big start to the individual swims at the 2022 Qld State Championships.

A series of cracking heat swims saw 11 swimmers qualify for finals on Day 1.

Boys 13 yrs – Ishaan Mehra (Silver) and Julian Angus (8th) in the 100m Freestyle.

Boys 14yrs – Kai Gilbert (Silver) in the 200m Individual Medley

Boys 15yrs – Tomo Shadforth (Bronze) and Will Sutcliffe (4th) in the 200m Backstroke. A first for both boys, first individual Qld State Medal for Tomo and first final for Will!

Boys 15yrs – Matthew Kalogeropoulos (10th) in the 200m Freestyle.

Girls 14yrs – Sara McCarthy (5th) in the 100m Butterfly.

Girls 14yrs – Bianca Rayward (Silver) and birthday girl Ella Burden (9th) in the 1500m Freestyle.

Boys 14yrs – Kai Gilbert (Gold) in the 800m Freestyle.

Boys 13yrs – Julian Angus (Bronze) in the 800m Freestyle
